    By now, you may have received an invitation to our Webinar to reveal the new plans for Woolpots Solar Farm.

    It will be a public event, held on 13th July 2023 from 7-8.30pm. You can register to attend here.

    If you are unable to attend, please email us and we will send you a written copy in the week of 17th July.

  • 1st August 2022

    We’re delighted to announce that should it go ahead, Woolpots Solar Farm will be able to offer a community benefit endowment of £100,000 to benefit local projects.

    Once established, applications for grants will be made through the Two Ridings Community Foundation.

    The endowment will run in perpetuity, meaning that grants will be available even after the solar farm has been decommissioned and the land returned to farming.

Woolpots Solar Farm

  • A joint venture between Lightrock Power and Econergy.

  • Environmental enhancements designed in collaboration with the RSPB.

  • A generous inital community benefit fund of £100,000, plus a fruther £5,000 annually

  • Temporary structure.

  • Circa 30MW solar.

  • 74MWH BESS.

Since the original planning application decision, Econergy and Lightrock have been working hard on new plans that would be more in keeping with the community’s feedback.

  • In January, Hambleton District Council raised concerns around landscape impacts and flying safety.

  • Residents of Husthwaite and Carlton Husthwaite explained that they support discrete schemes where solar panels could be screened.

  • Councillors said that, while they wholeheartedly supported clean energy generation, the proposal was too close to ‘England’s finest view’ at Sutton Bank, and the Kilburn White Horse, with many saying that they would support the proposal if it was constrained to the southern parcel.

Econergy and Lightrock believe that their new design strikes the right balance between reducing the impacts of the development, and generating enough renewable electricity to help combat the environmental and ecological crises, whilst supporting British farming and energy security.
